Updated: Sep 18, 2022

Calling all lovers of art...and nature...

What: Artist's Reception by LI's Women Sharing Art, Inc.

When: Sun. Sept. 18, 2022 from 1-4 PM

Where: Bayard Cutting Arboretum, Great River, NY

Why: I know Y I'm going...How 'bout U?

Eileen and I will be participating and we are inviting interested souls to join in the fun and adventures. As part of our time on these sacred grounds, we'll also take some "sole" time and stroll around among the tree creatures...

Borrowing the wisdom from A.A. and St. Francis, my perception of "G-d" as I understand "G-d" is of...an artist...musician...poet...gardener...feel free to add your own...

"G-d" as Artist...

While exploring their site, I spotted someone I know - Doris Diamond - who's part of Multicultural Solidarity of LI and their Friendship Circles. This is a great circle to run around with and I've met several that I've been hanging out with. One of these folks introduced me to the Arboretum. Thanks, Harriet!!! See info at end of post for more...

Here's Doris's bio on this site. Check it out to see how this amazing woman sees...depicts...and interacts with our shared world...

Upon seeing this at last week's exploration, the watercolor image recalled this next song. As I'm receiving this post, it's a grey day here in West Hempstead...

"G-d" as Musician...

--The creatively apropos images in this video recall what an amazing journey these two made...from Queens College to Greenwich Village...and the world...

I luv stuff I find while I'm looking for something else..."hear's" one from a few days ago...join me and we go into the woods...

SLOOOOOOOOW DOWN...WE MOVE TOOOOOO FASSSSST...

Let's give ourselves permission to slow down...even for a few moments. Enjoy nature and the company of friends and fellow travelers on life's paths...

--where else but in NYC

"G-d" as Gardener...

"G-d" as a Poet...and Musician

My Mother, the poet...

--I credit my own love for words and wordplay from my early home environment. Mom wrote and Dad punned. Later, when I was leaving home (for the umteenth time), they invited themselves to accompany me as I followed Horace Greeley's "Go West, young man" and drove across the country to California in 1973 in my '65 VW Microbus...

Picture yourself in a Bus on a highway... Oops...

Dad rode shotgun taking pictures (one of his many hobbies) and Mom sat in back writing poetry. Whenever I replay this scene, I imagine another S&G road song - "America." As I listened again just now, I imagined that it's being sung by my Dad to my Mom. She was a Catherine, and though Dad called her "Katie" and not "Cathy/Kathy"...it still works.

When I returned to NY in 1975, I was destined to renew my casual relationship with Eileen. The way she tells it, she KNEW I'd be back for her...I didn't...but AM SO GLAD I did!!! Three of my sisters flew to California and made the return voyage with me. Lotsa great memories...

--I'm surprised that there aren't more videos with nature and road trip images...

No sooner did I speak...type...then this roadtrippin' cover version appeared...it adds the female perspective...

...and the moon rose over an open field..."

--Sept. 2022 Harvest Moon taken in the George Washington Elementary School field across from our home

"G-d" as a...Bridge...Train...Rolling Stone...

Driving NYC's Ed Koch Queensboro (59th Street) Bridge Outer Roadway (it's a 4:02 video...without traffic : ))) )

--In my 20's as a taxi driver, I crossed that bridge "when I came to it" many times...

--Hilarious!!! Add likes if, like me, you enjoy NYC subways and trains in general...

Here's Mick to tell us about "wants" and "needs."

Want...Need...more tree time???

Contact me and I'll let you know more about the folks that invited me to sit among the trees...Here's our gathering place near the Manor House in the Arboretum...

Next gathering: Sept. 28 @ 10:30 AM...
