I’m a happy, mindful, grateful soul man…in wonder…
Remembering our loved ones who have passed on...

Walking among the Souls...
On today's afternoon stroll thru the neighborhood...

This driver could be preparing...just in case...

"inarticulate speech
inarticulate speech of the heart
i’m a soul in wonder
i’ve been all around the world
looking for a soul
looking for a soul in wonder"

Hollywood Souls
FIRST, In the Disney/Pixar animated "Soul" tale, a favorite image from my subway-loving self is the NYCTA's #7 line passing the Silvercup Bakery in Long Island City:

Joe gets a call he's been hoping for...a chance to play a gig and escape from his middle school music teacher's job...

...but wasn't paying enough attention to where he was...and falls into an open manhole...

...and totally unexpected adventures begin...including in two places in the afterlife.
"Joe finds himself a disembodied soul heading into an afterlife called the "Great Beyond". Unwilling to die, he tries to escape but ends up in the "Great Before" (aka "You Seminar"), a realm where new souls are prepared for life on Earth with guidance from otherworldly counselors — all named Jerry — and experienced souls who act as mentors: each soul has a badge that grants passage to Earth once it has been completely filled in with interests and personality traits."
Music is Bread for the Soul and Body
The play on words in the title of this next article describes how a union strike closed the famous Long Island City, NY bakery...and then in the link that follows, 5 years later, an enterprising family bought the building and turned it into a successful film production business.

Music is Healing...
Confusion clouds the heart, but it also points the way
Quiet down the mind, the more the song will play
So, you can't rush your healing
Darkness has its teachings
Love is never leaving
You can't rush your healing

Trevor shares a personal story about his discovery of time and death...after a serious illness caused him to have to change his tours...
A lot of his inquiries were fueled by words his grandmother told him:
"Isn't time such a wonderful gift..."

Been a fan since I first saw him years ago at Mulcahy's in Wantagh, NY.

Gotta have brass for soul and blues...

One more take, from the momentous night (12/31/78) they opened for the Grateful Dead...the show that was the last ever at this historic San Francisco venue...
Wailing the blues with mouth organ and axes...

The "Souls" flick featured spirit guides named "Jerry"...

THE SOUND AND THE SOUL.
Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter were never just a songwriter duo — they were two halves of the same heart. One played the notes, the other gave them meaning.
Rock on with this classic! http://countrydaily.store/jerry-garcia-robert-hunter-the.../
Hunter wrote about gamblers, wanderers, and dreamers. Garcia gave those characters a voice that trembled with truth. Together, they created the moral universe of The Grateful Dead — a world where beauty lived inside imperfection, and hope was a melody you could hum forever.
They rarely shared the stage, but every song they made was a conversation between two souls. “Ripple,” “Friend of the Devil,” “Stella Blue,” “Touch of Grey” — each one whispered the same message: life is fragile, but it’s worth the journey.
When Garcia died, Hunter said, “Our conversation isn’t over — it just got quieter.”
And even now, when those songs echo across a festival field or from an old vinyl spinning at midnight, you can still feel them talking — the sound, and the soul, keeping each other alive.

"Listen to the river sing sweet songs to rock my soul"
With a name like "Grateful Dead" and songs about people living on the outskirts of "normal"...it's not surprising that they sang about "soul" themes. Here's a favorite:
