"M", Congratulations on way more than 3 coins in your fountain...30 to be exact!!!

Updated: Oct 4, 2022

READERS: Following AA's tradition, I'm respecting the anonymity of the recipient of this post.

To my fellow "Roommate"

Congratulations on putting together a lot of steps…a lot of one-day’s-at-a-time…

Thanks, too, for sharing with us your accumulated wisdom.

At our meetings, when you’re talking, I like how your smiling eyes search around the room looking for receptive hearts with whom to connect…(see "Two Hearts" song further down)

ADDED 9/29/22: See "your EYES" at the end of this post for others who experienced this loving gaze...

OLD YOU

I’ve heard you tell of how people would act when you showed up…

THEY’D LEAVE…

Well…my wife recently came upon a quote that seems to describe an opposite type of reaction, after we’ve allowed ourselves to be changed.

NEW YOU

“A successful life is one so lived that we come into this world crying while the world rejoices, but we leave this world rejoicing while the world cries.”

Lost & Found Dept.

I’ve selected for you 4 songs. Also included a poem that’s the title of the book that was used to first draw me to the recovery rooms. It’s written by a guy I consider a spiritual father – a guy that George B. also likes. So do folks like U2's front man - Bono - who did a private retreat with Fr. Richard.

NOTE: For some time now I've been hearing some love songs from a new perspective - as that of Divine Lover to her/his Beloved and/or the reverse: Beloved to Divine Lover. It works for this song. Additionally, this number has several recovery themes. I've put some of them in RED text.

"Two Hearts Beat As One"

I don't know, I don't know which side I'm on I don't know my right from left or my right from wrong They say I'm a fool, they say I'm nothing But if I'm a fool for you, oh, that's something Two hearts beat as one Two hearts beat as one Two hearts I can't stop to dance, honey, this is my last chance I said, can't stop to dance, maybe this is my last chance Two hearts beat as one Two hearts beat as one Two hearts Beat on black, beat on white Beat on anything, don't get it right Beat on you, beat on me, beat on love I don't know how to say what's got to be said I don't know if it's black or white, there's others see it red I don't get the answers right, I'll leave that to you Is this love out of fashion or is it the time of year? Are these words distraction to the words you wanna hear? Two hearts beat as one Two hearts beat as one Two hearts I try to spit it out, try to explain The way that I feel, oh yeah Two hearts Well, I can't stop to dance, maybe this is my last chance I said I can't stop to dance, maybe this is my last chance I said don't stop to dance, maybe this is my last chance I said I can't stop to dance, maybe this is our last chance I said don't stop to dance, maybe this is our last chance Oh, oh!

Pour up (drank), head shot (drank)

Sit down (drank), stand up (drank)

Pass out (drank), wake up (drank)

Faded (drank), faded (drank)

I believe in miracles

Cause it's a miracle I'm here

Guess you could call me spiritual

Cause physical is fear

Something like flying

Hard to describe it

My God, I'm breathing underwater

Something like freedom, freedom

My God, I'm breathing underwater

--Poem by: Sr. Carol Bieleck, RSCJ (from an unpublished work)

--Read by: Fr. Richard Rohr, OFM

I was lost

I was wandering in the dark

I was searching for the spark

That would light my life

I was lost

I didn't know where I was from

I was always on the run

Tryin' to find myself

I was out on my own

Then you brought me back home

I was lost

But now I'm found

I'm so glad that you're around

To shelter me

Meeting Feedback on Your "EYES" - Added 9/29/22

During our celebration of your 30 years, several people expressed in their own words the power of your gaze - how you looked deeply at them. This reminded me of this passage from the Gospels:
